Indulgences Cokespoon 1
Like an addict, all I want is more. --Just Another Rich Kid
Analogous to our culture's obsession with luxury and consumption, this 24K gold-dipped Bic pen cap is the ultimate ready made and couldn't be a more perfect example of high meets low art. Sniff sniff.
In 2007, the Museum of Modern Art San Francisco (MOMASF) accessions committee purchased several items from the Just Another Rich Kid's INDULGENCES range from CITIZEN:Citizen. In 2008, these objects were shown during 246 and Counting, a two-year timeline of pivotal objects in design that have not only shaped the world we live in but also the lens through which we experience it, curated by Henry Urbach, formally the owner of the NY based eponymous Architecture Gallery.
Gold Pills are part of the Just Another Rich Kid's INDULGENCES range designed in collaboration with Tobias Wong in 2005. As an extension of our obsession with fame, celebrity, and commodities, they designed a line of luxury objects: INDULGENCES (for the man who has absolutely everything). INDULGENCES addressed the creation of and demand for the unnecessary, directly commenting on the ever-expanding market of luxury items in our culture.
